A sweet antique rose gold brooch conversion necklace from the late Victorian era is now suspended on a 9ct trace chain. The former brooch has a detailed swallow in mid flight to the centre with an engraved floral garland underneath on an intricate pierced out background. There is a '15CT' stamp on the reverse and the metal tests as 15ct gold and there is a 9ct gold hallmark on the chain.
Victorians loved symbolism in their jewellery and the swallow bird was given to loved ones to keep them safe on long journeys.
